A three-year-old boy who fell from the 15th floor of an apartment building recently in Changzhou, Jiangsu province has fortunately survived, according to Yangtse.

Days before the accident, Qiqi (alias) and his family moved into a new home featuring a semi-closed balcony. Harboring concerns regarding safety, Qiqi's parents decided to give the balcony a make-over and made it fully-closed.

On the morning of April 11, the mother arrived home with Qiqi to find the renovation workers had taken down the window and were carrying new windows up. Feeling a bit tired, the mother went to the bathroom and told Qiqi to stay in the living room. However, the boy did not listen to his mother's warning and went to the balcony. The mother returned to the living room and watched in horror as her son toppled off the balcony.

Fortunately, Qiqi fell onto a clay plot on the lawn surrounding the apartment. The impact of the fall caused an impression on the ground, where the soil had been softened by some recent rainfall. A security guard of the community patrolling the area rushed Qiqi to the hospital, where he received emergency treatment. The boy currently suffers several fractures all over his body, and remains in critical condition.
