Beyond BBQ – Home Plate's New Thin & Crispy Pizza

Starting with just a small starter smoker in a community courtyard, Home Plate has been bringing American BBQ goodness to China since 2010.

Their beloved southern-style, slow-cooked BBQ is now available in two locations in Beijing and one in Chengdu.

Home Plate’s expert F&B team is constantly updating and upgrading their menu with new tasty treats – all hand-cooked meticulously with love.

The newest additions to their summer menu are no exception – there are a few fresh must-try dishes to check out.

The highlight of new offers are the Thin & Crispy Bar Pizzas (RMB78-RMB108). The new pizzas are only available at their Sanyuanqiao location, but with summer setting in, the spot’s abundant outdoor seating is the perfect place to share a pizza and a few beers with friends.

The pizzas are made with an ultra-thin crust, the crunch contrasting perfectly with the gooey cheese and hearty toppings.

The mostly corn-based bottom is also a great way to enjoy pizza while saving your carb intake for those ice-cold beers.

Ma's Ma La Pizza

Ma’s Ma La Pizza (RMB78) is one of our favorites, topped with Sichuan sausage, jalapeño cheddar sausage, red onion, red chili, tomato sauce, mozzarella and jalapeños.

The Mistress

Another lip-smackingly spicy option is The Mistress (RMB98), which is coated in smoked USDA beef brisket, jalapeños, red onion, red sauce, and Italian mozzarella.

Four Cheese

For those looking for something with a little less kick – but still all of the flavor – the Four Cheese (RMB68), with blue cheese, parmesan, Italian mozzarella, white cheddar, cracked black pepper, and jalapeño hot honey, is akin to the most spunky, cheesy nacho plate you’ve ever had.

The new pizzas aren’t all that Home Plate has cooked up for their new menu either, and the rest of the items are available at both the Sanlitun and Sanyuanqiao locations.

Gochujiang Hot Honey Ribs

The newest flavor option for their famous slow-smoked ribs, the Gochujiang Hot Honey Ribs, is an innovative use of the Korean pepper that is a staple of the country’s cuisine. 

The Gochujing Hot Honey Ribs BBQ Platter (400g/RMB198; 600g/RMB276) is served with cornbread and your choice of two of Home Plate’s diverse sides: Side Salad, Texas Ranch Beans, Carolina Vinegar Slaw, Smoked Texas Slaw, French Fries, Smoked Cream Corn, Horseradish Potato Salad, BBQ Fried Rice, Southern Greens, and Country Green Beans.

Smoked Whole Chicken Leg

The Smoked Whole Chicken Leg (RMB88) is also served with two sides, along with all the delicious juice inside.

The moist meat is covered in secret spices and smoked for hours – it’s served with an Alabama white sauce that alone makes it worth trying this chicken!

Smoked Corn Ribs

The Smoked Corn Ribs (RMB42) take the elongated ear of grains to new levels with Home Plate’s signature spicy Memphis BBQ rub and creamy ranch dressing dip.

If you still have room for dessert, Home Plate has added the Smoked Crème Brulée (RMB50) with home-made lemon vanilla custard that is smoked for a twinge of BBQ taste before it is topped with a crunchy caramelized sugar – it’s Texas meets Paris in your mouth.

Another new sweet treat is the Baked Cheesecake (RMB52/slice; RMB328/whole cake) which has a thick, creamy, and slightly chunky texture with a buttery biscuit base.

Whether you are a regular at Home Plate or a newcomer to their bangin’ BBQ establishment, these new menu items make it worth heading out with friends (because, yes, these are American-sized portions people!).
