Boats Are Back in These Beijing Parks

Starting from Monday, March 21, you’ll see boats operating in some Beijing parks, as is normal during the warmer months of the year.

The parks include New Summer Palace (Yiheyuan), Beihai park, Zizhuyuan park, Yuyuantan park and Taoranting park. Rowing boats, pedal boats, electric-powered boats, pleasure boats and dragon boats can all be found.

Taoranting park has even entered a new era of technology with each of its boats equipped with 5G and a BeiDou navigation satellite system, according to Global Times

Unseasonable snowfall hit the capital on the evening of Thursday, March 18. Central heating was extended by a week and will now be switched off by midnight on Tuesday, March 22.

Temperatures are now gradually becoming warmer – perhaps the perfect time for a nice little boat ride in one of the Jing’s many parks.
