Mifan or Mafan: Chuanqi Grassland Shield Barbecue

By That's Beijing, April 13, 2018

If you can get beyond the garish poured concrete, nuclear-waste green floors and slightly off-blue ceilings, Chuanqi Grassland Shield Barbecue is not a bad spot. While we are unsure as to the level of authenticity at this Mongolian-style BBQ joint (kimchi bewilderingly appears with the sides), the food is definitely tasty. The menu mainly features beef, although other meats are available – including sheep’s genitals, if you are so inclined. The aptly named Taste Delicious Beef (RMB39) is tender and should be everyone’s first choice off the menu. Wash it down with a big pot of salty Mongolian tea (RMB29) and enjoy this little slice of fake Mongolia and/or Korea.
