If you've visited the Great Wall in Beijing or Shanghai's Bund area recently, you may have noticed a new addition to the security squad: Italian police.

They've been in China since April 24 and will stick around until May 7 as part of an exchange program between the Italian and Chinese police forces.

Four Italian officers will patrol popular Shanghai tourist destinations like the Bund, Lujiazui, Yu Garden and Xintiandi through this weekend.

Meanwhile, eight Chinese officers will be sent to work alongside squads in Rome, Milan, Florence and Naples in June. They also conducted a similar joint patrol in Rome last year.
