A hiker died suddenly during a trip to the Mentougou Mountains in western Beijing on Saturday, Shanghai Daily reports.

A group of hikers reportedly entered the region – which is known for its immense peaks and vast alpine meadows – on Saturday morning. They reportedly called upon rescuers for help after a male hiker fell unconscious and died suddenly, the article reports.

More than 20 firefighters and volunteers were called to the scene. They searched the broad and steep terrain for over five hours in order to reach the body, and were tasked with carrying the body down the mountain.

Four hikers have now died in Beijing’s Mentougou Mountains this year, while numerous other have been rescued after getting lost.
