That's Shanghai takes a look at the best live shows in town this week.

Oct 10: Dirty Fingers

WHAT? They’re back folks, and for a limited amount of time. Brazilian drummer Ale Amazonia is kicking around town for a few months and the band are getting back together, sharing the stage with equally impressive post punk act Mirrors at Yuyintang Park this weekend. Tickets are well and truly gone. In fact, they sold out in three hours. But this is exciting, and we’re hoping to see more from them over the coming weeks and months.

Oct 10, 8.30pm. Yuyintang Park. See event listing

Oct 11: Zhaoze

Guangdong post rock band Zhaoze arrive at Bandai Namco this month for an evening of gorgeous guqin music. Inspired by the likes of Sigur Ros, Zhaoze have floated beneath the radar, despite crafting some of the most beautiful music in the country over the past few years. They’ll bring two huge works, Birds Contending and 1911, for what should be an amazing evening of live music.

Oct 11, 8.30pm; RMB120 presale. Bandai Namco Shanghai Base. See event listing. Tickets

Oct 12: Love Bang: Catch & Scratch Opening & Sudden-Closing Party

Here’s a bit of gossip you won’t hear at your local corner store: Catch & Scratch is the hottest new restaurant in town, and it's closing before it even opens. That's so cool! What's even cooler? The after-party is STILL GOIN’ DOWN, with very emotional, very bangin’ club music until 5am. Catch & Scratch is the new failure by Mr. Blurry, the boyfriend of celebrity-cat Xu Dongmei. Indeed, Mr. Blurry is a talented and beloved chef, but when his investors realized he’s deeply psychotic (note his eyes on the flyer), they decided to cut their losses and cancel the project, but are still having an after-party to get social media clout for their next venture. Damn! After hearing this news, Mr. Blurry had a total breakdown and painted the walls and ceilings with all his ingredients, which accidentally created a surreal exhibition that perfectly matches the high-energy, very bangin' club music of the after-party. Lineup: Knopha (Beatween), NEHO (It's Your Boy Nelson), Lumi (Eastern Margins), ELF (SHCR) and Heatwolves.

Oct 12, 10pm; RMB50 before 11pm, RMB80 after. Elevator. See event listing

Oct 12: Lil Jet

Oct 12, 8pm; RMB168 presale, RMB198 door. Mao Livehouse. See event listing. Tickets

Oct 12: Stand Up Comedy: Girls' Night Out

It’s a girls night out at Cages Bar & Sports this Saturday as the Shanghai Comedy Bunker lays on an all-female stand-up comedy show, featuring, among others, Magners Comedy Competition finalist Casey Li Brander, Hei Now Comedy co-founder Erica Switzer and star of Mamahuhu Norah Yang.

Oct 12, 9.30pm; RMB70 presale, RMB80 door. Shanghai Comedy Bunker. See event listing. Scan the QR code on the flyer for tickets.

Oct 13: The Summer was Crazy

Local bands Round Eye, Nerve Passenger, Poetry in Shorts and the beautifully named Airsex are joining forces to blow a kiss goodbye to a crazy summer. If you've been missing out on some well-needed punk infused debauchery, get your butts down to Yuyintang Park this weekend.

Oct 13, 8.30pm; RMB80 door. Yuyintang Park. See event listing.
