Aug 14: Mike Shinoda Post Traumatic Tour

Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda brings his deeply personal solo album to Shanghai this Tuesday. Recorded while processing the grief that came with the loss of his former bandmate, Chester Bennington, this album is a far cry from his previous work and has been acclaimed for its honesty and hopeful tone.

Aug 16: Wolf Alice

One of the UK's best bands of the 2010s thanks to virtuosic frontwoman Ellie Roswell, Wolf Alice comes to Shanghai for the first time this Thursday. From incandescent pop-rock, to punk and shoegaze, they're promising a memorable show at Modern Sky Lab.

Aug 16: Slow Boat Tap Takeover

Slow Boat Brewery from Beijing is popping up at The Hop Project over on Dagu Lu. The party starts on Thursday, August 16, where you can grab beers and talk shop with Slow Boat founder & CEO, Chandler Jurinka. If you're feelin' ambitious, you can work your way through all eight Slow Boat taps. Monkey’s Fist IPA and Zombie Pirate Pale Ale are only 40 RMB all day.

Aug 16-26: Toruk - The First Flight

The world's greatest circus, Cirque du Soleil, returns to Shanghai with a colorful new production themed after James Cameron's sci-fi opus, AVATAR. The show is a multimedia spectacle and features a vibrant stage design that brings to life the natural world of the Na'vi people and breathtaking feats by its performers.

Aug 17: SHFT pres. MONXX

Calling all you real headbangers, one of the biggest names in Riddim Dubstep is pulling up for a show this week in Found 158. Monxx has been making waves in the scene hitting festivals like EDC Las Vegas just last year, so check him out for a night of bass, beats and a little grime.

Aug 17-18: Ron Josol

With 20 years of experience in comedy and dozens of international tours under his belt, Ron Josol brings his witty observational comedy back to Shanghai, where he first performed as an opener for Russell Peters back in 2004 and again in 2017, he toured China last year and smashed it and he's back for more. Catch him over two nights at Kung Fu Komedy Club, August 17 and 18.

Aug 18: Fortune Casino at The Pearl

If you're feeling lucky, hit The Pearl this weekend for a night of glitz and gambling. With roulette, Texas hold'em and blackjack tables at the ready, you might just walk out of there with something extra in your pockets or one of their great prizes.

Aug 18: Transmission Festival

This is the first trance festival of this magnitude to be held in China. Some of the genre's best artists from around the world are coming together for this show, and with the original Transmission Festival team from Europe running the operation, it's bound to be a good one.

Aug 18: Volcán Anniversary Party

To celebrate another year strong, Café del Volcán are having a bash at 45 Degrees on Wuding Lu. They'll be featuring their latest coffee collaborations with Boxing Cat's Tiramisu Stout and Laundry Latte, in addition to half-priced coffee (at all locations), free pie and some pretty sweet prizes (including restaurant vouchers for Hakkasan).

Aug 18-19: Shanghai Craft Beer Festival

Back for its 8th year in a row, this weekend the Shanghai Craft Beer Festival is taking over Lujiazui Harbour City. Come for your old favorites and discover some new ones with all the bites and brews your heart desires (shout out to Boxing Cat Brewery for hosting).
