3. Thomas Feuerstein: Psychoprosa
The Austrian artist gets his first solo exhibition in China transforming the entire Chronus Art Center into “a studio reminiscent of a mysterious alchemist’s workshop while graefully arranged akin to a tidy and ordered modern laboratory.” Psychoprosa consists of 19 artworks that collectively create a large installation.
Until June 26. Chronus Art Center.
4. Chen Tianzhuo's Trayastrimsa
The Beijing based artist studied graphic design in London and has carved out a reputation as one of China’s most exciting young artists thanks to his colorful and brash style. This solo exhibition is part of K11 Art Foundation’s three-year collaboration with Palais de Tokyo (Paris) and features an operatic peformance by Chen. Expect a startling mix of sculptural, video and live performance in what promises to be a provocative show as the above picture from his recent Paris exhibition shows.
Until June 30. k11 Art Mall.
5. Chen Xiaoyun: 106 Flashes of Lightning That I Collect
ShanghART welcomes back the winner of the New Photography of the Year Prize of Linazhou Foto in 2012. Inspired by capturing lighting across various mediums, 106 Flashes of Lightning That I Collect spans sculptures, installations and videos. The show marks Chen’s return to the m50 museum in two years after Twenty-one Poems of Lenin (see above).
Until July 1. ShanghART Main Space.
6. Brigitte Lacombe: Inside Cinema
Shanghai Center of Photography pays tribute to the New York based French photographer who has shot some of the world’s biggest stars since attending the 1975 Cannes Film Festival, where she met Dustin Hoffman and Donald Sutherland who invited her to their film sets to take photos. Since then, Lacombe has worked on movies from Martin Scorsese while capturing celebs like Mick Jagger (see cover pic) for magazines like Vanity Fair and GQ.
