A recurring look at what's happening at Shanghai's art galleries:
1. SOW
ShanghART reopens ints m50 branch with this group show featuring works from Jin Yanan, Liu Yi (see cover image), Xiao Longhua and Zheng Wenxin (see above). SOW stands from Spring Ocean Wave and features a variety of works spanning video to paintings, installations to sculpture. Opens on March 10 from 4.30-7pm.

2. The Plane of Rewriting
In The Plane of Rewriting, eight Chinese artists explore "the gestures of rewriting as a transformative process of self-renewal, where new traces are created on top of past debris." Features contributions from Huang Yuangqing, Ma Kelu, Su Xinping, Tan Ping, Tao Yi, Zhang Jian Jun, Zhou Yangming and Zhu Jinshi. Opens on March 12 from 5-7pm.

3. Han Ishu: The Drifting Thinker
MoCA Pavilion kicks off is 2017 Guest Curator series project with Shanghai based Japanese curator Kodama Kanazawa. The Drifting Thinker introduces the contemporary works from Shanghai born, Japanese based artist Han Ishu – reintroducing the artist to his hometown’s art circles. Opens on March 15 at 6pm.

4. Design Shanghai
Asia’s
leading international design event returns to the Shanghai Exhibition
Center with world-renowed names like Zaha Hadid, Frank Partidge, Galerie
Dumonteil, Eglidesign and brands including Swarovski, Boca Do Lobo and
Driade among the participants. Attendees will have the opportunity to
see thousands of products from over 350 international design brands
across various disciplines. Additional activities will also take place
in Xintiandi from March 6-19, while a Design Tour that stops off at
various studios and galleries in the city happens daily, starting from
the Shanghai Exhibition Center and ending at Xintiandi from March 8-11.

5. Laurence Chellali: Together
OFOTO presents a series of works from the French photographer inspired by her stay in China. For half a year, Chellali looked onto a neighboring school playground from a playground inspring a fresh style in her photography.

6. Yang Yongliang: Time Immermorial
Bund gallery Matthew Liu Fine Arts presents the latest works from Yang Yongliang, who has gained international acclaim for his works that mix traditional Chinese landscapes with images of modern city living.
