Soul Crates is bringing the Brooklyn underground king back to The Shelter. As part of New York’s hip hop golden era, DJ Spinna has collaborated with The Jungle Brothers, remixed De La Soul, and produced for the likes of Mos Def, Talib Kweli and Eminem. He’s also a respected figure in house and is responsible for the famed remix of Shawn Escoffery’s ‘Days Like This.’ For more, check out our feature on DJ Spinna.

Mar 11: DJ Nuckey

Hip Hop Hijack brings in the Tokyo hip hop icon. One of only two Asian members of the World Famous Hevy Hitters, Nuckey holds residences at several of Japan’s hottest clubs and has been known to rock the occasional live show on New York’s famed hip hop rdio station, Hot 97FM.

The mysterious producer has been slaying the trap and future bass scenes, counting stars like Skrillex and Diplo as early adopters. While his true identity remains unknown, fans will be able to boogie to the sounds from the literarlly marshmallow adorned DJ when he makes his Shanghai debut.

Started by Parisian producer Brodinski (Kanye’s Yeezus) and his manager, Bromance Records has become a powerhouse. Three of the label’s finest: Gener8tion, Guillaume Berg and Sam Tiba take over Arkham.

Mar 12: Hot Pot Beats Release Party

The notorious Hongqiao hot spot has been cultivating an electronic underground community. This weekend, their in-house record label releases its debut compilation, Hot Pot Beats featuring 11 productions from The Mansion’s residents and friends. The release party features six participants playing, including Beijing 8-bit legend and now Tokyo based producer Sulumi.

Voltage Divider
Black Eyeliner’s Benjamin Bacon brings his experimental music night to Inferno. Expect to hear avant-garde productions create through unorthodox methods. Past guests have include Snapline, MHP and Lao Zhao from FM3. This night will feature Nathan Felix from The Noise Revival Orchestra.

Girls Night Out - Contesta Rock Hair Edition

Hu Bar & Lounge Opening
Le Royal Méridien and MVP present the grand opening of the fashionable hotel’s new lounge. Located on the 65th and 66th floor, Hu Bar is split into three parts - an exclusive penthouse-inspired event space, a classically styled bar and a modern nightclub. With stunning views of the skyline as the backdrop, this exclusive party features Beijing underground pioneer Ben Huang and live musical peformances. There’s free flow cocktails until midnight and guest list reservations must be made at events@mvpshanghai.com. Elegant dress code enforced: suits for gentlemen and fancy dress for ladies.

The Taboo crew celebrates their second anniversary by taking over The Mansion. It’s a good times-bad times sort of thing as it will mark the crew’s party for awhile as the members embark on new directions.
