The
Toronto post-hardcore trio have released two acclaimed albums of
menacing guitar-driven noise on Sub Pop while slaying crowds across the

Feb 20: Winter Lollipop
New
Shanghai collective Chie Wu! kicks off a new live series inviting Howie
and Yang Yang from Your Boyfriend Sucks! The Guangzhou visitors will be
bringing the noise and experience from the southern indie institution

Feb 20-29: JZ School Open Class Week
With their Spring Semester about to start up, JZ School is offering a week of free classes for adults and kids. Take a class on everything from jazz guitar to musical theater, taught by some of JZ Club’s staples like Jonas Seetoh, Lawrence Ku and Jade Lee. Feb 22: The Night of the Cookers
Recorded in 1965 and released on the legendary Blue Note label, The Night of the Cookers was trumpeter Freddie Hubbard’s iconic first live album. Described as “one of the most compelling documents of a live band in a full flight,” it gets recreated by some of Shanghai’s finest jazz cats - Antonio Ximenez and Toby Mak on trumpet, Jianyi Huang on piano, Danny Zanker on bass and Al Gordon on drums.

Until Feb 28: The Haunted Cinema
MAO Livehouse will be transformed into a huge haunted house bringing to life some of cinema’s scariest scenes. There is only one way out – you have to cross the entire building and escape the haunted cinema.

Mardi Gras Masquerade Bash
A
touch of New Orleans takes over The Pearl for what promises to be a
raucous bash. A live dixie band will perform while there will be plenty
of beads and booze all nght long. Dress up for the ocassion with
masquerade masks provided at the door.

Kyle Gemberling
The singer and trumpeter is back at Heyday by popular
demand. His voice has drawn comparisons to Harry Connick Jr and Chet

Talvekoidik
The German group has been mixing IDM
and classical since 2007. Favorites at indie music festivals around the
world, they’re bringing their distinct sound crystalized on last year’s
