Last October, ‘pop punk princess’ Avril Lavigne announced a 2020 world tour with stops all over Europe and a few in Japan and Hong Kong. China fans don’t fret, because the Guangdong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism has just released a notice online, approving two concerts. One will be in Shenzhen on April 23, and the other is scheduled to be in Foshan on April 25. This won’t be the Canadian star’s first time in Shenzhen as she’s held a concert here back in 2014.
Lavigne’s popularity skyrocketed in the early 2000s and her fans still adore her in Asia and all around the world. In a 2014 interview with The Hollywood Reporter discussing touring Asia, Lavigne explains how she “loves to play for both the orderly Japanese fans and more boisterous Chinese crowds.”
It is currently unclear how many tickets will be available, as the China tour dates have not been announced on her official website or ticketing channels. Stay tuned for further details.
