Gear up for an awesome Friday night at Oil, where four acts who are oozing with talent are set to take the stage. Parrish Smith, a Dutch producer known for his blend of avant garde electronics and industrial sounds, will be bringing down the house with his hypnotic rhythm, while Mark Knekelhuis, a fellow Dutchman, is ready to masterfully whip up dance tunes for music lovers to bop around. Beijing-based duo Zaliva-D and Shenzhen's own Warmchainss will also be performing.

Fri, May 17: Tommy Emmanuel @ A8 Live

Australian guitarist Tommy Emmanuel comes to Shenzhen this weekend after having already completed most of his China tour. The acoustic virtuoso is known for his complex fingerpicking style and energetic performances, bringing fans a lively and enthralling musical experience. He’ll be accompanied by American guitarist Adam Mckee who has a knack for leaving listeners in a fingerpickin’ trance. This should be a fun way to spend your Friday night.

Fri-Sun, May 17-19: The 6th Tomorrow Festival @ B10

This weekend you can catch a variety of live music performances, talks and film screenings at the 6th Tomorrow Festival at B10. Musicians from Georgia, Germany, Japan and China will descend upon the venue for evening shows from Friday to Sunday, dialing up a litany of tunes. On Saturday, Hisham Mayet will be speaking on the history of Sublime Frequencies, a label documenting obscure showings in the music world, from Eastern psyche pop to Sahel post folk (we said obscure).

Sat, May 18: Tiara @ Shenzhen Bao’an Stadium

South China Mandopop artist Tiara, also known as Tia Rey, is bringing her talents to Shenzhen Bao’an Stadium this weekend. After kickstarting her singing career on The Voice of China in 2013, Tiara released her self-titled album the following year. Combining R&B and jazz stylings, the neo-soul singer-songwriter delivers a performance worth seeing.
