At 2.42pm on April 19, steel frames collapsed on the construction site of a subway station being built near Shenzhen Foreign Languages School in Yantian District. According to Yantian District Government News, four workers were trapped underneath. All were eventually retrieved by a rescue team, but one died of his injuries at the Yantian District No. 2 People's Hospital. The man, a migrant from Sichuan, was surnamed Gou.

As of yesterday evening, the other three workers were in stable condition at Yantian District No. 7 People's Hospital. Two of them have only light injuries, while the third has relatively serious ones.

All four were working on a subway station that will one day be part of Shenzhen's future Line 8. The cause of the accident has not yet been released.
