About 500 ride-share bikes were left piled in Shekou, Shenzhen, as of Sunday afternoon. The bikes were smashed, bent and mostly unrideable, according to a Tencent News report. The bikes were left in two large piles at the entrance of Wanxia Mountain Park near the Dongjiaotou metro stop.

As to who would do such a thing, there are a few theories.

The Tencent report says bikes began piling up Monday, outside the entrance to the nearby Wanxia New Village, which is linked by a network of narrow alleys. It’s been suggested that guards tired of the bikes blocking the roads could be behind these two mountains of twisted metal.

Though still registering via the apps, according to a southcn.com report, it's likely these bikes – many with bent handlebars and smashed baskets – will take some fixing before they end up back on the road.
