Two Hong Kong girls that went missing in Shenzhen on Sunday were located in Xiamen, Fujian Province, after a 50 hour search.
They had been lured across the border by an 18-year-old man with promises of 'work' and 'entertainment,' according to a release on the Nanshan Police Weibo. The man, identified as Qiu, is being held on criminal charges.
Qiu reportedly met the girls at the Shenzhen Bay checkpoint Sunday before taking them on a high speed train to Xiamen, where they were found in an apartment Wednesday.
The girls, Li, 12, and Hong Zhi Mei, 14, are classmates at the Ju Ching Chu Secondary School in Tuen Mun, according to the South China Morning Post.
The girls were reportedly unharmed and in good spirits after being found. They have been reunited with family.
The case is notable for the apparent trafficking of Hong Kong girls into the mainland. Usually women and girls are lured from China's countryside according to a 2016 US Department of State report.
