Shenzhen has made international headlines yet again and this time it’s not for a massive drug raid at a rave. That’s right, it turns out Shenzhen has some positive news to bring to the media pool as well.

One of Shenzhen's very own, resident Wu Song, has been featured on Forbes' prestigious ‘30 under 30 Asia’ list, released on February 25. Wu was mentioned in the ‘Healthcare and Science’ category for his achievements in medical research.

Wu is the 29-year-old deputy head of Luohu District People’s Hospital in Shenzhen, the head of Zhongxun Precision Medical Research Center and an assistant researcher at the genome study center of Washington University, according to Shenzhen Daily. With 29 papers published in internationally renowned journals, namely Nature Genetics, Wu’s works have been cited over 500 times.

Together with other talented individuals, Wu was selected as one of the 300 promising young people in Asia – entrepreneurs, emerging leaders and game changers – in 10 different categories: entertainment and sports, the arts, media, marketing and advertising, retail and ecommerce, finance and venture capital, enterprise tech, consumer tech, social entrepreneurs, manufacturing and energy and healthcare and science. Each category lists 30 individuals to watch in their respective industry.

The list features young go-getters from China, South Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia, India, Singapore, Japan, the Philippines and Australia, among others.
