DADA isn’t messing around for their New Year’s Eve party, that’s for sure. Santo Chino’s been amassing quite the following over the past year with his monthly Same As It Ever Was party. He takes it back to the basics with his all-vinyl sets that feature nothing but incredible music from disco to rock to funk.

Noukilla
It’s been a sensational 2014 for the Shanghai-based reggae-fusion group. They hooked up with MIDI Festival, playing all their shows this year, and also released their debut studio record. Always a live standout, they’ll be headlining the New Year’s Eve party of choice for all those jazz cats out there with the Jade Lee Quartet opening.

Independent Electro-Bomb New Year’s Party
The Shanghai Minsheng Art Museum is throwing a New Year’s Party celebrating the independent arts. With an “Electro-bomb Night” theme, the party is headlined by China’s first real electronic band, Supermarket. The Beijing group released one of this year’s top albums Blackeclipse and will be joined by Shanghai musician MHP and VJ Panda for what promises to be a trippy way to welcome the New Year. They’llbe cosplay games and scripts performed by local comics and art exhibits as well.

Two Fresh
STD counts down to 2015 at their Arkham home with Casio G-Shock and hip-hop duo Two Fresh. The Colorado group have shared stages with Baauer and Skrillex, winning over crowds at SXSW and Electric Daisy Carnival with their trap influenced hip hop.

NYE Paty @ The Mansion
Expect an epic night at The Mansion with 13 DJs filling three floors of music and mayhem. New Year’s Eve Animal Party
The folks behind the Super Pillow Fight Night are taking over MAO Livehouse and turning it into the biggest human zoo with this themed party. International DJs will spin tunes to set the mood for what promises to be a beast of a party.

Demo Live New Year
It’s been a good year for the rock promoters who recently brought Tom Odell to town and will be bringing Starsailor in next month. To celebrate the end of 2014, they’re bringing together three of China’s top bands. Top Floor Circus are Shanghai legends, a mischievous act that proudly and defiantly sing in Shanghainese. Duck Fight Goose are the on the way to achieving the same status, due to their outstanding album Sports and their constantly unpredictable sets at shows around town. They’re joined by The Escape Plan who is currently one of China’s biggest acts due to their hit single, ‘The Brightest Star in the Night Sky.’ RMB680 VIP package includes taking photos with the band and commemorative goodies.

It's Liquid Laundry's first ever New Year's Eve party and to celebrate, they're hosting an 80's Prom Night. Kartel is offering an all-incuse four-course dinner and party package. The three levels of Le Royal Meridien will be separated into house, hip hop and Latin quarters to ensure that everyone gets to boogie down to their favorite tunes to ring in the New Year. The Fairmont Peace Hotel rings in the New Year by celebrating their glorious past, when it was the place to be seen in the city. They’re redecorating in that classic Shanghai cabaret style and are encouraging attendees to dress in their finest cheongsams and zhongsuns. Professional dancers will get guests in the mood to swing with performances, while their top-notch band will play nothing but classics. On-site entertainment includes a fortune teller, magicians and martial arts performers with lucky draw prizes from the hotel available such as a two-night stay at a Nine Nations suite. NYE Party at Three on the Bund
‘Shanghai’s finest epicurean destination’ AKA Three on the Bund, home to restaurants Mercato, Jean Georges, Chi-Q and more is throwing a huge NYE bash at the newly opened Three Studio event space on the ground floor. The idea is that purchasing a special NYE menu at any one of Three on the Bund’s restaurants on December 31 will get you free entrance to the party afterwards, meaning you don’t have the hassle of trying to get past the roadblocks barring entrance to the Bund after early evening. Details for the party are still TBD, but there’ll be table/champagne packages, non-stop DJs, live performances (we hear they’ve got Zina lined up!) and an LED firework display.

A Cabaret New Year’s Eve Party
Sir Elly’s will transform into the legendary 1930s Kit Kat Klub for this glamorous party that relives Shanghai’s golden age. 1515 West Bar and Grill is turning back to the clock and celebrating New Year’s Eve with a 1920’s Chicago themed party. Chef de Cuisine Bradley Hull has crafted a six-course dinner and wine pairing. Ali. G band plays vintage jazz and dance music with the 1515 Bar hosting a New Year’s countdown party from 10pm onward. Dress code: black tie.

Special NYE Menu at M1NT Restaurant
Our friends over at M1NT restaurant, which now has esteemed executive chef Michael Jakovljev at the helm, are putting together a six-course special menu to ring in 2015, including oysters, foie gras, caviar, lobster and Wagyu beef for RMB1,288 (add RMB 388 for wine pairing). Similar to Three on the Bund’s offer, the idea here is that after you’re done feasting you simply stroll over to the nightclub party next door, cleverly avoiding the hassle of NYE logistics (here’s a hint: you won’t be able to get a cab!).
