'Museum of Broken Relationships' opens in Shanghai to mark Singles' Day

To mark Singles' Day, the November 11 holiday popular throughout China that celebrates the nation's bachelors, Shanghai is hosting its very own "Museuom of Broken Relationships."

The 111 items on displays are all the tokens of failed love affairs: teddy bears, movie tickets, boarding passes, postcards, love letters and weddings dresses — all that remains of once hopeful and joyous relationships, helplessly dashed against the rocks of betrayal and heartbreak.

Donated by members of the public and accompanied by a brief story, these dismal relics of a broken past show us that even cheap trinkets and torn-up, tear-soaked pages are stronger, and more faithful and enduring than the supposed love our partners profess for us.

It might just make some visitors glad to be single.
