Shanghai Dongya vs Dalian Aerbin

Champions League chasing Dongya played host to relegation threatened Dalian Aerbin at the Shanghai Stadium on Saturday night. They took the lead in the 24th minute when Wang Jiajie threaded in Swedish international Tobias Hysen who lashed home with the outside of his left boot.

The lead was doubled 9 minutes later when Wu Lei latched onto a though ball and deftly chipped it over the Dalian keeper. Dongya then earned a penalty in the 58th minute, but a soft spot kick from Wu Lei was easily saved and, despite a slew of other chances for the home side, 2-0 was how it ended. The goals took Hysen to 15 for the season, Wu Lei to 10, and kept Dongya in joint 3rd, behind Guangzhou R&F only on goal difference.

Jiangsu Sainty vs Shanghai Shenxin

12th placed Shenxin traveled to neighboring Jiangsu Sainty, who lay 7th in the CSL, looking to make it two away wins on the trot after victory at Harbin last weekend. And they set themselves on the way after 22 minutes when Brazilian forward Jaílton Paraíba easily side footed home a cross from the right. Jiangsu could of pulled level when dirty diver Elias went down like a sack of spuds in the box (do we smell a whiff of corruption?), but justice was done when the Brazilian skied the resulting penalty.

Shenxin doubled their lead in the 68th minute when a strong run into the box from Peter Utaka was cut short by a scything challenge from Jiangsu’s Li Ang. Wang Yun nonchalantly dinked the spot kick down the middle. And a resounding result was sealed in the 83rd minute when Utaka found Hou Junjie in the box, who coolly slotted home. The result takes Shenxin up to 10th in the league.
