8th China EdFest Gives Parents a Powerful Voice

The 8th China Festival of Education, hosted by Wellington College China, brought together over 70 speakers and more than 800 attendees from around the world.

Held on Saturday, April 12 at Wellington College International Shanghai, thought leaders in academia, mental health, technology, finance and business discussed the future of education and how it will adapt in the face of rapid societal change.

It was a day of insightful workshops and inspiring talks that explored education through the lenses of technology, family-school collaboration, environmentalism and sustainability, wellbeing and so much more. 

EdFest is part of a global mission to build a connected community of lifelong learners, thinkers and innovators.

In the coming year, schools within the Wellington College Education group will be hosting EdFests around the world—from China to the UK, the US and Thailand.


SAS Filmmakers Dominate at Shanghai Student Film Festival

Shanghai American School (SAS) student filmmakers shined at this year’s Shanghai Student Film Festival (S2F2), securing top honors in both the Senior and Junior divisions of the fast-paced 4x4x4 Challenge. 

With just four days to plan, four hours to shoot, and four hours to edit, Fin. and Reset Roulette stood out for their creativity and execution.

But the success didn’t end there—SAS students also claimed awards across multiple categories, including Best Cinematography and Best Sound Design.

Combining passion, originality, and teamwork, SAS filmmakers once again proved themselves as leading voices in student cinema.

Badminton Legend Cai Yun Inspires Students at Shanghai French School

As part of Olympic and Paralympic Week, Shanghai French School had the honor of welcoming Olympic badminton champion Cai Yun to its Qingpu campus.

The event, supported by the French Consulate in Shanghai and attended by Consul Joan Valadou, celebrated sportsmanship and Olympic values.

A four-time world champion and Olympic gold medalist, Cai Yun engaged students in a lively Q&A session, sharing stories about his career highlights, training discipline, and his passion for doubles badminton. 

Students asked about his most challenging matches, proudest moments, and why he specialized in doubles.

The highlight came when Cai Yun played a friendly doubles match with students. Young athletes were thrilled to compete alongside a legend, marveling at his lightning-fast reflexes, strategic brilliance, and gracious sportsmanship.

The excitement peaked when Consul Joan Valadou joined the game, rallying with Cai Yun to the crowd’s delight.

This unforgettable visit left students inspired, offering them once-in-a-lifetime mentorship and a powerful reminder to pursue excellence.


Britannica International School Celebrates World Book Day 2025

Britannica International School recently concluded an exciting World Book Day 2025 celebration, filled with literary fun!

Students dressed as their favorite book characters, showcasing their creativity and passion for reading. The best-dressed students in each key stage received book prizes.

In conjunction with World Book Day, Britannica also held a Book Fair, offering a wide selection of books for all ages, with students, teachers, and parents participating.

The festivities were part of Literacy Week, which included activities such as DEAR (Drop Everything And Read), an Extreme Reading Competition, and a Book Swap for younger students.

House competitions, including bookmark design and literature quizzes, added teamwork and excitement to the event.

At Britannica, the school believes in the transformative power of reading and its ability to spark imagination and creativity.

The World Book Day celebrations inspired students, promoted literacy, and fostered a strong community around the joy of books.

NAIS Immersive Performance of 'The Great Gatsby'

NAIS Pudong Senior Drama Club transported audiences to the roaring 1920s with an immersive performance of The Great Gatsby.

Before the show, guests enjoyed a stylish speakeasy-themed social, setting the perfect mood for the evening.

The production was a stunning showcase of the students' hard work, creativity, and confidence on stage. From the dazzling costumes to the powerful performances, every detail reflected their dedication.

Bravo to the talented cast and crew for bringing Gatsby’s world to life!


German Founder Award at German School Shanghai

The German Founder Award is a prestigious honor recognizing outstanding entrepreneurs in Germany. 

Supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and key business partners, the award is presented annually in four to five categories, spanning student business simulations to lifetime achievement awards.

For the past five years, German School Shanghai has participated in the student category, fostering entrepreneurial skills among its pupils.

This year, seven teams from Grades 9, 11, and 12 joined the competition. After attending a workshop on business and marketing fundamentals, the students developed and pitched innovative concepts to peers and teachers. Their ideas included:

  • Automated home irrigation systems

  • Space-saving foldable furniture

  • AI-powered healthy eating advisors

  • Eco-friendly biodegradable packaging

The top three teams will now advance to the national finals in Germany, showcasing the German School Shanghai’s commitment to nurturing innovation and real-world problem-solving.


3D Printing Future Fashion at Dulwich Puxi

At Dulwich College Shanghai Puxi, students are given the chance to explore cutting-edge ideas through hands-on experiences—and the recent 3D Printing Fashion Design Course was a brilliant example of just that.

Developed in collaboration with renowned haute couture designer Kimi Huang, the course invited students into the world of future fashion across four weekend masterclasses.

Participants learned to use professional tools such as Nomad and Bambu Studio to create bionic 3D-printed fashion pieces, drawing inspiration from themes like nature, time, and transformation.

Alongside digital modeling, students explored traditional techniques including hand painting, rhinestone application, and fabric draping.

They experimented with structure, form, color, and texture—combining modern technology with classical design to create detailed, imaginative final pieces.

The students’ experience offered a powerful glimpse into the future—and the creative minds shaping it.
