From now until September 17, YICAFE at Pudong Shangri-La, Shanghai presents an authentic Malay Feast, curated by the newly appointed Malaysian Chef of YICAFE, Tan Kok Long

Hailing from Kuala Lumpur, and boasting an impressive pedigree of over 30 years of culinary experience, Chef Tan is serving up a variety of classic Malaysian dishes, lending a brand-new culinary experience to the already vibrant global food offerings that make up YICAFE’s robust lunch and dinner buffet.

Influenced by its diverse population, Malaysian cuisine has absorbed elements of Chinese, Indian, Middle Eastern, and other international cuisines, creating a unique blend that draws from a multitude of culinary traditions.

Without leaving Shanghai, guests at YICAFE can experience the diversity of Malaysian cuisine – from street food favorites to traditional fare.

Expect an abundant spread of Malaysian satay, coconut milk rice, fragrant bak kut teh, crispy barbecue chicken wings, rich and silky curry laksa, tender Hainanese chicken rice, aromatic beef rendang, fried meat and taro rolls, nasi lemak and a multitude of other seasonal Malaysian dishes, sides, appetizers made via home cooking methods – surely an ample spread to whet any appetite. 

Even drinks, like satisfyingly mily teh tahrik and ais bandung are on offer. 

"We will change the menu daily," explains Chef Tan, "so that guests can taste different authentic Malaysian delicacies each time they visit."

In addition to the newest Malaysian dish lineup, YICAFE invites guests on an international culinary journey, with over 10 cooking stations set in a lively, cosmopolitan atmosphere.

The walk-through market-style design, where all the kitchens are a stage, presents worldly cuisines culminating in the ultimate food experience of a vast array of flavors uniquely combined in one concept.

Succulent tandoori grilled meats and vegetables, rich mutton curry, mixed vegetable curry, gravy-like butter chicken, rajama daal, basmati rice, plus dips and cold dishes like mouhammara spread, grilled eggplant, grape leaf dolma, hummus, mashed lentils, Greek salad, pita, Turkish bread.

Juicy lamb kofta and kebabs, tavuk sis, biriyani, fat-dripping chicken shawarma on a roasting pit, plus plenty of dips and cold dishes like nutty mouhammara spread, grilled eggplant, grape leaf dolma, authentic Middle Eastern hummus, mashed lentils, Greek salad, pita, Turkish bread, and assorted Turkish desserts like baklava.

The buffet lunch at YICAFE starts at RMB324* per person, while the buffet dinner starts at RMB464* per person, including unlimited soft drinks and iced tea.
