The esteemed chefs from the Suntime Century Chinese Restaurant embarked on a journey to Beijing to explore the cultural essence of Beijing cuisine, curating a distinctive ‘Beijing Taste’ for their guests. From March 18-31, the team invites you to come and experience the authentic flavours of Beijing alongside two guest chefs from Beijing NUO Hotel.

Chef Yao and Chef Huang from the Chinese Restaurant, driven by their passion and commitment to traditional culinary techniques, ventured to Beijing NUO Hotel to immerse themselves in its culinary traditions. Upon their return, they bring back the genuine essence of Beijing cuisine to Shanghai, infusing it with unique creativity and modern presentation, delighting every diner’s palate.

Among the highlights of Beijing cuisine is the traditional delicacy, Old Beijing Zhajiangmian with Soy Bean Sauce. This signature dish features a secret noodle sauce crafted with a blend of lobster sauce, meat and green onions, resulting in a sauce that boasts a deep, vibrant colour and a rich, complex flavour. This tantalising sauce is generously poured over freshly cooked noodles, yielding a dish that is both delicious and unique. The chef team meticulously crafts handmade noodles using a combination of high-gluten and low-gluten flour in precise proportions, offering a delightful chewiness and thick texture.

Stir-fried Lamb with Scallions in Beile Jing Style

Originating from Beile Mansion in the late Qing Dynasty, this grilled lamb dish is a testament to Beijing’s culinary heritage. Our chef team selects only the finest lamb foreleg meat, ensuring each bite is tender yet delightfully devoid of excess grease.

Stir-fried Shredded Pork with Beijing Sauce

In Beijing, the prominence of the Stir-fried Shredded Pork with Beijing Sauce rivals that of the famous roast duck. This dish features succulent shredded meat infused with the distinctive flavours of Beijing sauce, accompanied by tender tofu skin and complimented by fragrant shredded scallions or crisp shredded cucumbers. With each bite, the harmonious blend of meat and sauce, together with the aromatic essence of the accompanying vegetables, explodes onto the palate, leaving a lingering and unforgettable aftertaste.

Old Beijing Lamb Soup

Lamb soup, an iconic winter warmer hailing from old Beijing, has earned its place as a cherished delicacy among locals for its unique flavour and comforting warmth. A steaming bowl of hearty is sure to envelop diners in a cosy embrace, leaving them feeling both nourished and satisfied. Our skilled chef team simmers this soup for seven hours using lamb bones, complemented by tender white radish and succulent hind leg meat, resulting in a deeply satisfying and soul-warming dish.
