Just in from The Waterhouse at South Bund, Oxalis will temporarily close effective January 7, 2019 to undergo extensive rennovations.

The French restaurant will be closed indefinitely as they conform to local government guidelines requiring kitchen relocation. While they are at it, they will also build a new function room.

We recently named Oxalis among the '20 Best New Restaurants to Open in 2018,' so we will be eagerly awaiting the relaunch. The restaurant is still taking weekend reservations, so call up quickly to get in one last brunch or killer Berkshire pork shoulder blade.

A representative for the hotel states that the "hotel will stay open" as "only the restaurant Oxalis is under renovation" although the hotel's website shows that rooms are unavailable until April 26, 2019.

On Booking.com, a banner reads "this property isn't taking reservations right now" while a search on Hotels.com shows no availability for several different dates up to May 2019. We've reached out to the hotel for clarification and have not heard back yet.

In the meantime, Chef Jonas Noël will be taking a holiday.

Here's hotel's statement:

The Waterhouse at South Bund is announcing the Restaurant Oxalis is going under renovation effective from January 7, 2019.

In order to cooperate with the municipal construction surrounded by the hotel, the kitchen of Oxalis faced to park will be relocated and a function room will be built up there. That’s our plan to renovate. After couple of months, Waterhouse will transform to a new image. For Chef Jonas, he will be taking holidays.
