5 Bodies Recovered, 5 Missing After Cargo Ship Sinks Near Shanghai

Five bodies have been recovered and five people are still missing after a cargo ship sank near Shanghai's Wusongkou Port at 1.38am Sunday morning, Shine reports. Search and rescue efforts are ongoing. 

The freighter, the Shunqiang 2, was carrying 3,000 tons of steel roll from Nanjing to Guangzhou when it collided with another vessel. There were 13 crew members on board, three of whom were rescued immediately. 

Ten marine patrol boats, two tugboats and two salvage ships were immediately sent to the scene. A helicopter and divers from the East China Sea Rescue Bureau were also dispatched on Sunday morning. As of 5pm on Sunday, five bodies had been found. 

According to the rescued crewmembers, three cabins were locked when the collision occurred and some personnel were asleep.
