The mouthwatering prospect of an all-Shanghai Chinese FA Cup Final is one step closer, as He Guan's injury time header gave Shanghai SIPG 2-1 advantage against holders Guangzhou Evergrande in the first leg of their semi final at Shanghai Stadium last night. Liu Jian had given the visitors the lead in the 20th minute, with SIPG's Uzbek midfielder Odil Akhmedov drawing them level on the hour mark.
The other semi final saw SIPG's arch rivals Shanghai Shenhua run out 1-0 winners against city minnows Shanghai Shenxin. Kim Kee-hee was the scorer at Hongkou Football Stadium.
The FA Cup second legs take place as follows:
Sep 29, 7.35pm, Shanghai Shenxin vs Shanghai Shenhua, Jinshian Football Stadium
Sep 30, 7.35pm, Guangzhou Evergrande vs Shanghai SIPG, Tianhe Stadium
And if you can't wait until then to see Shanghai SIPG take on Guangzhou Evergrande again, their AFC Champions League quarter final takes place at 8pm at Shanghai Stadium next Tuesday, August 22.
