Ever thought about playing video games for a living? Esports is an industry that saw nearly USD500 million in global revenue in 2016, while the sales figure is expected to reach 1.5 billion by 2020. With an estimated 117 million esports players around the country, China is at the forefront of this booming virtual industry. In this month’s cover story (p42), Dominique Wong from our Beijing team speaks to several gaming experts and players to find out why that’s the case.
