The STORM Electronic Music Festival is just a week away but they're teasing the shenanigans with this official pre-party featuring DJ Snake. The Diplo approved producer has been behind trap anthems like 'Bird Machine' and has shared stages like Skrillex and Zedd (who will play at STORM) while making beats for people like Diddy. The French DJ will be backed by such local all-stars as Conrank, Cavia, Heatwolves and Tourettez.

Hip Hop Hijack's Third Anniversary Parties

 

The Hip Hop Hijack boys are celebrating their third birthday with a pair of parties. DJ Big Ben of New York's premier rap station Hot 97 will be dropping by for Explicit Fridays at Geisha. He's also the official DJ for beloved personality Angie Martinez and a popular DJ at NYC clubs. The next night at Arkham will be more of a West Coast flavor as DJ Jam is the special guest. He's Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg's official DJ. Both nights will also feature set from the Hip Hop Hijack DJs Choyce Kutz and B-Kut who spin every Fridays at Geisha.

Gilles Peterson @ Unico (Nov 9)

BBC Radio 6's Gilles Peterson is one of the UK's great modern jazz-Latin crossover DJs. Dedicated to mining the world for lost beats, Peterson's mixes are always funky. This year, he received the AIM Indie Champion Award for  pushing unknown artists into the spotlight. He opened Unico and now he's back to play an eclectic set of Brazillian beats, disco, house and jazz. Check out our interview with him and find out how to win tickets to the show.

The Egyptian Lover (Love Bang) @ 390 Bar (Nov 9)

The Love Bang Boys are taking it back to 1984 with this party headlined by electro godfather The Egyptian Lover. A pionering figure in Los Angeles' 1980's electro and rap scenes, this "hyper-sexual cross between Kraftwerk and Prince" will be scratching on vinyl and making beats live on a vintage Roland TR-808 drum machine. Expect some old school dance routines and support from new Shanghainese funk producer ollo-MAM, DJ Caution and Heatwolves. Entry comes with a shot.

KVLT 2 @ The Shelter (Nov 9)

 

Subculture Shanghai is celebrating their 6th year anniversary and their SVBKVLT beat tapes collects some of the dustiest beats by underground producers across Asia. The second KVLT night features a lineup of Bangkok's DJ Dragon, Manilla's Red-I and Soul Flower, Saigon's Jase and hometown heroes ChaCha and Drunk Monk.
