Canada's sesquicentennial (aka 150th) anniversary as a country is this Saturday, and there are multiple events happening around Shanghai to celebrate! Whether you want to gorge on poutine, drink a Caesar or go straight for the maple syrup, there are plenty of ways to show your love for Canada this weekend.

Not to be outdone, "Canada's Pants" (otherwise known as "America") is also celebrating its Independence Day next week. Find out here where to celebrate Fourth of July in Shanghai.

Fête Du Canada Day

The Canadian Chamber of Commerce is holding a massive street festival at Rockbund Art Museum, and what do they not have to offer? Food, drink, visual art, live music performances and much more is what you can expect from this celebration of Canada's historic 150th birthday, eh? This event is family friendly, so feel free to bring your kids for some outdoor fun, Canadian food and live entertainment.

July 1, 2pm, RMB200 at the door. Rockbund Art Museum, see event listing.

Cages Bar and Sports

Come down to Cages to celebrate not one North American holiday, but two! Cages is throwing a party for both Canada Day and Independence Day. Play some classic North American drinking games such as beer pong, flip cup, corn hole and dizzy bat to properly celebrate the US of Eh. You can also enjoy craft beers from Boxing Cat Brewery and Firestone Brewery while attempting to throw ping-pong balls into cups of (cheaper) beer. Craft beers for RMB30 and pitchers for Tiger for RMB60 for drinking games.

July 1, 6pm-late, free entry. Cages Bar and Sports, see event listing

Big Bamboo (Nanyang Lu)

If you want to sip on a good ol' fashioned Bloody Caesar while celebrating Canada Day, then look no further. Big Bamboo is offering happy hour drink specials all day on Caesars and Canadian Club — just make sure to pace yourself. To soak up all that alcohol, they've got hotdogs and hamburgers for RMB65 that also happen to come with a bottle Moosehead beer. But what is Canada Day without some poutine? You're in luck, because Big Bamboo is selling poutine fries, a Canadian classic. RMB10 extra for poutine.

July 1, doors open at 9.30am. Big Bamboo, see event listing

C's

If you're more of a night person, but you still want to celebrate the festivities of Canada Day, then head over to C's listen to Toronto's very own DJ Loke. While listening to some classic hip hop and funk, you can sip on some Canadian spirits and enjoy some Canadian talent while be surrounded by Canada's own red maple leaves. That's right, C's is getting festive and decorating the bar area with Canadian maple leaves.

July 1, 10pm-late, free entry. C's, see event listing.
