Brawl on the Bund: Preysler vs Huang

Shanghai's favorite black tie boxing bloodbath returns for another round in the rainforest, courtesy of White Collar Boxing International. Brawl on the Bund: Rumble in the Jungle 2017 will rock Hyatt on the Bund on June 9 for a one-time only event that's the first of its kind in the world.

More than 500 people will watch Shanghai's finest duke it out for victory. 'White Collar' boxers have been plucked from offices across the city and put in intensive training for three months, and will be ready to show off their newly mastered hooks, jabs and – importantly – ability to take a punch.

In the next few weeks leading up to fight night, we will be posting a preview of each match-up. From the first bout, Montse 'The Monster' Preysler and Carol 'Corgy Gone Wild' Huang took the time to answer some questions.

Montse 'The Monster' Preysler

Nationality: Filipina

Age: 37

Weight: 53kg

What made you decide to fight? I started boxing over 6 years ago but never really stepped into the ring. I'm not getting any younger so it's now or never. And I see training for this fight as a good opportunity to push myself both physically and mentally.

If you could fight anyone living, dead, fictional or real, who would it be? Tough question. First one that comes to mind is I want to fight the person who was responsible for commercializing cigarettes. I want to (go back in time and) give them serious brain damage before they even come up with the idea! There might be some smokers reading this but everyone agrees that stuff is just so bad and simply undoes any effort one makes to be healthier. I was a smoker for over 10 years and I stopped 4 years ago and I never felt better.

What does it mean for you to be a fighter? Being a fighter means always coming out stronger, win or lose.

What sets you apart from the other boxers in Brawl on the Bund? I'm not sure about this, but I think I might have trained in boxing for longer than most so my technique is strong. Then again it's never been tested, so we will see how it goes on the day.

What holes do you see in your opponent's game? I don't really look at that. I focus on my own game.

What do you want to be remembered for at the end of your fight? It really doesn't matter to me what people remember about my fight because I'm not doing this for show. I'm doing this for my own self-improvement, all that matters to me is coming out of this better and stronger both physically and mentally than I ever was before.

Carol 'Corgy Gone Wild'

Nationality: Taiwanese

Age: 26

Weight: 51kg

Favorite quote: Stay hungry, stay foolish.

What made you decide to fight? Yoga started to make me feel bored. I wanted to try something more challenging and to push myself to the limit.

If you could fight anyone living, dead, fictional or real, who would it be? Lady Gaga.

What does it mean for you to be a fighter? I have to be more careful in case I hurt anybody. LOL. It proves that if I really want to do something, I can finish it and do it well.

What sets you apart from the other boxers in Brawl on the Bund? I might look thin and weak, but I am more aggressive than you think. And I would never give up.

What holes do you see in your opponent's game? She told me once she gets tired easily, and I hope she didn't lie to me. LOL.

What do you want to be remembered for at the end of your fight? “That girl can fight and she does it well!”
