Each year during Spring Festival, China's first- and second-tier cities become virtually devoid of humans as millions travel back to their hometowns to celebrate with family.

So what did China look like while you were soaking up a few rays on your CNY trip to Southeast Asia? In a nutshell: post-apocalyptic empty streets but extra-crowded tourist attractions.
