Aquabiking
A combination of underwater spinning, resistance-band exercises, leg lifts out of the pool and even jumping on trampolines – if you choose the combo fit class – these hour-long classes tone our lower belly, butt, legs and quads. First class free.

Aqua Zumba
Get pumped in the pool with this hipper version of water aerobics. While having less impact on bones and joints, the 45-minute class tones your bod and is also great cardio – minus the sweat. RMB120/class.

Octopush
Also known as underwater hockey, this is a non-contact sport in which two teams compete to move a puck across the swimming pool floor into goals. Shanghai’s team, the Azure Dragons, plays year-round and welcomes anyone that has basic swimming skills.

Sailing
Get involved with the local sailing regattas. Welcoming anyone ages six and up, practices are held throughout the week with more intensive training on the weekends at Shanghai Yacht Club and Resort. Competitions are run throughout the year, including an annual 24-hour moonlight race. On the weekends, families come out to sail, camp, BBQ and have fun. Prior experience not necessary; formal training available.

Waterpolo
The Shanghai Sea Dragons Water Polo Club plays against groups like the retired men’s national team and their aspiring junior’s league. While not competitive, those interested (no former training necessary) are expected to be good swimmers.
