A That's series where we ask a Shanghai-based somebody to tell us 5 Things specific to his or her life.

We talk with Jodie Gillies and LaTrece Bracks about what it means to be a divas, holiday favorites and tonight's energetic and memorable performance 'A Soulful Night of Christmas Divas' at The Pearl which will feature a selection of Christmas favorites, some MoTown songs and a fabulous, full-spread Christmas dinner at The Pearl.

1. A Christmas Diva is...

JG: A diva is a diva all year round. It's just at christmas time we get to put a little glitter on it, wear some tinsel and throw our Christmas song weight around a little bit more.

LB: Someone who is confident, sassy and owns the stage when she's on it!  She connects with the crowd and has a presence about her that saturates the room.

2. My favorite thing about the holidays

JG: If I was back home in Australia where I came from it woudl be BBQs on the beach and getting drunk in the hot weather. But since I'm in the northern hemisphere now I'm going to have to say mulled wine and justifying my spending habits.

LB: Feeling the love and being with family friends and love ones.

3. My favorite holiday song is

JG: Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, which I'll be doing at The Pearl tonight. It doesn't mention any of the biblical things, it's just about family being together, which is what I do at Christmas.

LB: Oh Holy Night and Now Behold the Lamb by Kirk Franklin.

4. I love singing/performing because

JG: I like really making a difference in people's emotions and changing their attitude. Maybe making them happy and sometimes even making them emotional or sad. I'm also an acctress so I like the story involved in each song or show and moving people emotionally.

LB: It gives me a burst of energy that can only be described as exhilarating! I feel like I'm soaring high above the clouds.

5. Along with tonight's performance, I'm currently working on a

JG: Stephen Sondheim Musical called Company coming up in April.

LB: Show in Beijing, a gospel play, and other musical projects around Shanghai!
