Shanghai Tower has been crowned winner of the esteemed Emporis Skyscraper Award 2015. Standing 632m tall, the building is the second tallest in the world and the tallest in Asia.

Among the factors that determined the judge's decision were the tower’s “elegant spiralling cylindrical shape” and “its extraordinary energy efficiency.”

Another Chinese tower made the shortlist for the prize, the Jiangxi Nanchang Greenland Central Plaza, and it ranks fourth on the list.
