It's that time of year... racing season!
If tackling Tough Mudder or 60 floors of stairs, isn't you're thing, good news: The Shanghai International Marathon is opening soon for registration.
This year the 16th annual race will kick off October 30 at 7am. Spaces are limited and divided into four categories: 20,000 slots for the full, 8,000 for both the half and 10k and 5,000 for the 5k. Entry is done via lottery system so be sure to sign up as soon as you can. If selected, runners will be billed and notified via email or phone.
Pre-registration opens August 29 and runs until September 2, while priority and charity entry options run until the 12th. Full and half entrance fees are RMB100 for locals and RMB300 for foreigners, while the 10k and 5k are RMB60 and RMB80. The Shangma charity fee is RMB3,000. Additional registration rules can be found here.
Aside from the feel-good after-effects of pumping those endorphins and getting to see lots of the city on foot, what we're looking forward to the most at this year's race is the fact that KFC is one of the sponsors. And our [chicken] fingers are crossed that they'll be passing out this.
