Live Nation’s Zai Live series of concerts kick off with the acclaimed singer that’s been described as “South Korea’s Adele.” Since finishing runner-up on the 2012 season of K-Pop Star Season 1, the now 19-year-old has won numerous awards, collaborated with stars like Epik High and is signed with K-pop monolith YG Entertainment.

The Brooklyn rhymer is a certified underground legend thanks to classic albums like his Black Star collaboration with Mos Def. He saved Echo Park last year in Shanghai capably headlining after his occasional partner in rhymed missed his flight. Expect the heads to fill up Le Baron for this surprise late booking.

The young singer-songwriter has been winning rave reviews around the globe thanks to her distinct take on modern pop. She’s scored number one albums from Australia to the UK. Her third album, Beautiful Lies, came out in January featuring hits ‘Keeping Your Head Up’ and ‘Wild Horses.’ Her Shanghai debut is part of Live Nation’s Zai Live series of shows at the recently reopened Majestic Theatre.

July 29: Stereophonics

Live Nation’s Zai Live series of concerts concludes with the Welsh rockers lauded as one of the UK’s best live bands. In a brilliant 20-year career, Stereophonics has topped the UK charts five straight times. They’re still at the top of their game, releasing their ninth disc Keep the Village Alive last year to great reviews.

The K-pop superstar is a member of Girls Generation and has starred in numerous popular television dramas. She brings her Blossom tour to Shanghai for her first solo ‘fan meeting’ show.

The New Youth
This showcase of four of China’s top university acts is touring the nation, bringing young rockers Flight Game, The Cabins and Prajna Coast to Yuyintang.

The frontman of Guangdong rockers Football Hooligans show of his gentler side, bringing his 30-date national tour to O Stage i celebration of his new EP, A Grain of Sand.

The London-schooled, Hong Kong based singer-songwriter takes over On Stage.

Four of Shanghai’s finest bands teams (Dahlia Rosea, The Spodees, Nonplus of Color and Mirrors) take over Yuyintang as part of the two-night Shanghai Indie Night showcase.

Arcadi Volodos
The acclaimed Russian performs a recital comprised of his celebrations of classics from Schumann, Brahms and Schubert.

MAO Livehouse throws another themed local showcase featuring hometown heroes Chaos Mind, n’EON and Summer.

Shanghai Indie Night
Yuyintang’s two night hometown showcase caps off with four of the city’s finest: Beat Generation 1980s, Five Pointed Star, 八点组, and La Cygne.

Thy Blood
Formed in 2002, the Shanghainese thrash metal vets return with a new lineup and a harder sound. They celebrate the start of their new era with support from other hometown stalwarts Hitobashira and Psyclopus.

Ensemble Les Amis
Glam’s series of Chamber Music concert continues with a programe that touches on legends like Bach and Ponce.

Cordon
The young Chengdu group have a “conservative rock” sound inspired by 90s influeces like Nirvana and Rage Against the Machine.
