Town Crier! is random snippets of Shanghai news that just may have an effect on your life...

Alerting all public transports users! The folks at Kunshan City Hall recently approved two new metro lines connecting Shanghai with Suzhou and Kunshan, reports Shangahiist. We repeat… TWO brand new metro lines.

The metro lines will be known as S1 and S2, sort of basic and kinda repetitive since we already have a 1 & 2, but hey, it will do. The express lines will be the first inter-provincial city subway in Chinese mainland Congratulations Mainland, you’re moving up in the world.

The metro will travel at an impressive 100 km per hour, taking around 40 minutes to travel from Kunshan city to Suzhou and 40 minutes from Kunshan city to Shanghai’s Anting.

S1 has 33 stops and will take off from the Suzhou New District and end at Shanghai’s Huaqiao Station. S2 will include a whopping 14 stations that will start from Suzhou Industrial Park to south of Kunshan.

Construction is planned to launch at the end of next year and is predicted to take four years to complete.
