Mafalda was born in Argentina in 1964 at the hands of her creator, Quino, but soon became an icon throughout the Spanish-speaking world—and eventually a global phenomenon. Today, she appears in statues, on t-shirts and in films, but the real magic happens when you open her comic strips. Her humor, reflections, and wit remain as relevant as ever.
An eternal child, irreverent and always concerned about the state of the world, a lover of peace and an enemy of soup, Mafalda has just turned 60.
To celebrate her anniversary, the Instituto Cervantes, together with NeoCogito—the publisher responsible for the Chinese re-edition of the comic strip—presents the exhibition “Welcome to the World of Mafalda.” Supported by the Consulate of Argentina in Shanghai, the exhibition offers a chance to enjoy her classic comic panels and includes life-size reproductions of the character, her dining room, and her bedroom.
