Air China flight CA1336 from Nanning to Beijing made an emergency landing at Chongqing's Jiangbei International Airport this Wednesday after a passenger threatened to have placed a bomb onboard.

SWAT teams and paramedics were standing by when the plane landed at 2pm. After a thorough security check, no bomb was found and the woman was arrested along with three men in her company.

Another passenger later recalled that a dispute took place shortly after the plane took off. An economy passenger attempted to get into first class by claiming that she needed to meet her boss there, but her request was turned down by cabin crew.

The passenger then became agitated and refused to return to her seat. A couple sitting nearby said that “they kept whispering about something until the woman suddenly said that this plane was going to blow up. Both of us were scared.”

Passengers were then reportedly told to fasten their seat belts due to temporary turbulence and nobody was aware of any potential danger until they saw police cars and ambulances surround them on the runway after the unexpected landing.

According to Beijing Morning Post, the woman was a 24-year-old surnamed Wang from Hebei Province. She has now been charged with deliberate dissemination of false terrorist information, and is facing a minimum five-year sentence in prison and RMB500,000 fine.

The flight finally arrived in Beijing at 7:07pm safely later that day.
