WATCH: Japan's 1945 surrender on film for first time

A clip of original footage showing Japan's unconditional surrender to Chinese Nationalist forces in 1945 has been publicly released for the first time.

The snippet is part of a 20-minute film captured on 21 August 1945 by US representatives present, and has been released by a memorial hall in Hunan to commemorate the 77th anniversary of China's War of Resistance Against Japan. All-out war erupted on 7 July 1937 following the Marco Polo Bridge Incident near Beijing.

The full 20-minute film is scheduled for release in September.
