Most people are familiar with TED Talks, which are short, powerful presentations from expert speakers on a wide range of subjects, originally focusing on technology, entertainment, and design.

Although the concept was originally launched in 1984, the movement didn’t gain global traction until 2006, after which it became a worldwide phenomenon with talks translated into over 100 languages.

TEDx is a branch of TED that involves independently organized local events that present TED-affiliated talks. It allows communities to host their own conferences with local speakers and live-streamed TED Talks.

TEDx Beixinqiao is lauching their season this week with an educational evening that starts with the basics – how to give a TED Talk.

The event will begin with highlights from past TEDx Beixinqiao talks, followed by live coaching from their expert speakers, who will share valuable insights into public speaking and how to format a TED-style talk.

Then, the stage is yours: audience members will have the chance to step up, give a two-minute talk, and receive encouraging feedback from their coaches.

The event’s aim is to help develop future TED speakers from the local community by nurturing fresh voices, bold ideas, and the confidence to inspire others on stage.

Speakers will include the CEO and founder of Upsnail Public Speaking Academy, Jialan, who is an accomplished international speaker. In addition, a TEDx coach and administrator, Wantine, will share experiences as a public speaking trainer. Lastly, a polyglot – who is fluent in eight languages – will give advice to audience members.

Seating is limited to 100 guests, so reserve your spot by purchasing a ticket at https://yoopay.cn/event/55464416.

If you don't catch this event, you can check out TEDx Beixinqiao on October 27 and November 17 at Modernista.
