This National Day holiday, Dameisha Seaside Park and Xiaomeisha Beach Resort will be closed to the public as repairs on the beachfront continue. It is also likely that both seaside resorts will remain shut until 2019.
Almost two weeks have passed since Super Typhoon Mangkhut caused mayhem in Shenzhen and some of the city’s most popular seaside resorts are in the midst of major renovations.
Public beach resorts are among the most popular places to visit in Shenzhen during the National Holiday, with Dameisha alone receiving a staggering 545,700 visitors during the holiday in 2016.

According to Southern Metropolis Daily, more than 70 percent of the Dameisha and Haixian Jie section of Haibin Plank Road sustained severe damage during the typhoon. Currently, repairs on the damaged areas are underway, although local officials are unable to give an exact date for the beach's reopening.
At Dameisha Seaside Park, the loss in revenue reached over RMB85,000,000, with infrastructure, as well as stores and restaurants, suffering major damage. Additionaly, around 250,000 cubic meters of sand was carried away by the typhoon, causing the beach to sink by at least one meter.

Elsewhere, the Yantian Nan'ao ferry line, which was relaunched in August this year, has also been suspended due to heavy destruction at the Golden Coast Port and is expected to be shut down for at least another two months.

Liu Xianxue, the general manager at Xiaomeisha Beach Resort, said that the 700-meter-long road that connected the resort to the outside world was swept away, while three lifeguard towers built in the 1980s were destroyed and over 100 palm trees had been knocked down.
“Every year during this period of time, we prepare ourselves to welcome visitors who come during the Mid-Autumn and National Day holidays, but it looks like it will be impossible for us to do that this year," Liu told Nanfang Daily "Hopefully the resort will be reopened to the public by May next year, but still, that will have to depend on the progress of the repair.”
