Since 2011, luxury travel company WildChina has been offering an annual travel grant to help adventurers who want to make an impact through their explorations realize their dreams. With ‘Explore China Differently’ as this year’s theme, the winner of this year’s USD5000 grant will have access to WildChina’s vast local network and resources around the country to design his or her own unique tour for the company.
In the past six years, the grant has supported projects such as retracing ancient trading routes in Qinghai and documenting the Mosuo people, and last year’s grant recipient, photographer Dongrui Yu, traveled through Yunnan to create a project titled ‘Finding Yunnan’s Lost Stars’ and captured 10,000 images of the province’s night sky to help promote the importance of creating a dark sky reserve in China.
