UPDATE (February 15, 2017 at 1.25am CST): According to the BBC, Kim Jong Nam was killed by a fabric held to his face that burned his eyes. Police have confirmed the identity of the victim as Kim Jong Nam.
At 45 years old, the half brother of North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un is dead from apparent poisoning in Malaysia.
According to South Korean media reports, former DRPK leader Kim Jong Il’s eldest son, Kim Jong Nam, was attacked at Kuala Lumpur International Airport by two women, possibly North Korean agents.
Following the incident, the women fled the scene via taxi and have yet to be apprehended. The estranged Kim reportedly passed away on the way to a hospital.
Previously seen as the successor of his late father Kim Jong Il, Kim Jong Nam fell out of favor with his after a heavily-publicized botched attempt to visit Tokyo Disneyland using a fake passport in May 2001. He holds no official title in the Worker’s Party of Korea.
