A woman was physically assaulted for talking too loudly on her phone on a public bus in Xi'an.
Two fellow passengers — one man and one woman — violently attacked the woman on January 3, punching her and nearly pulling out her hair. The 55-year-old victim, surnamed Yang, said that the assailants had told her she was talking too loudly on her phone. She was suddenly punched in the neck when she took a phone call.
"He had two hands pulling my hair and dragged me to the ground," Yang said. "He even kicked and beat me and pulled my hair away."

When Yang asked her male attacker why he hit her, he said "because you were making a loud noise." Yang said that the woman also slapped her in the face.
While the attack was unfolding, the bus driver pulled the vehicle over and called the police. When the bus came to a stop, the two attackers got off.

CCTV footage confirms that the attack took place, though it's unclear if the attackers have been apprehended. Yang, meanwhile, said she reported the incident to the police.
