The two Chinese peacekeepers who were severely injured during recent fighting in South Sudan have arrived in Beijing to receive treatment, China.org.cn reports.
A special medical team has been assembled to provide care for the soldiers, named Chen Ying and Huo Yahui. The soldiers were airlifted to Beijing on a medical rescue plane sent by the Chinese military.
Two other Chinese peacekeepers were also injured in the violence. However, because their injuries are less severe, they have been taken to a United Nations hospital in Uganda. There are plans to send the bodies of the two Chinese peacekeepers who were killed in the attack back to China soon.
The two peacekeepers were killed and five others were injured after their armored vehicle was struck by a mortar shell on July 10 in Juba, the capital of South Sudan.
