Koryo Tours has been running trips to North Korea since 1993. But with tourists temporarily banned from the DPRK it seems like an appropriate time to turn the spotlight on the company’s other adventures. In the past, the Beijing-based agency has taken intrepid tourists along the ‘Road of Bones’ in Magadan, Russia, as well as to the ‘Mouth of Hell’ gas crater in Turkmenistan. This winter, however, their latest specialist tour will allow you to join Mongolian nomads rounding up semi-wild horses on the nation’s expansive grasslands.

From Tue 18 Nov to Sat 22 Nov, Koryo’s Rich Beal – who has been leading tours to Mongolia since 2006 – will be taking a select group of adventurous travelers on a special trip to the land of Genghis Khan, and the majestic Mongolian horse. The all-inclusive tour, which includes Beijing-Ulan Bator return flights, is the perfect combination of city break and grassland adventure. Sleep in a traditional ger (yurt), live the nomadic lifestyle, hike on the windswept steppes and herd and track semi-wild horses before riding them on snow-covered grasslands and under clear blue skies.
