9 – The Eternal Echo in the Blues Dimension
Blue Note China is proud to celebrate its 9th anniversary.
From 1 to 9, this marks a progression in numbers and, even more importantly, an evolution of the soul. Over nine years and 3,285 days and nights, Blue Note China has created countless opportunities for diverse audiences to experience jazz. The number nine represents completeness, as well as rebirth.
For nine years, Blue Note China has taken pride in staying true to its original aspiration. From New York to Beijing, and then to Shanghai—the ninth Blue Note Jazz Club in the world—these years have been a journey of comprehensive integration with fans, the market, and our environment. Throughout it all, their original vision has remained unchanged.
No music genre in the world pays more attention to the past, present, and future, or cares more about heritage, development, and adventure, than jazz.
The same is true for Blue Note. From the initial thrill of encountering the blues to the freedom of improvisation and the privilege of resonating with world-renowned jazz masters, every performance is like a ninth knock on the door of musical divinity.
The stage is synchronized with world-class performance quality globally, documenting the rise of Chinese jazz and the continuation of a rich cultural vein.
The Chinese word for "nine" (九, jiǔ) shares its pronunciation with the word for "long lasting" (久, jiǔ). This seems like Blue Note's destiny: nine years of persistence, paying homage to the past while raising the curtain on the future.
On September 12 and 13, Blue Note celebrated its ninth year in China. From the first note at Beijing's Qianmen to the dazzling stage on Shanghai's Bund, Blue Note China has not only become a benchmark for jazz in China but has also upheld the spirit of "Original Aspiration Unchanged, Jazz Unlimited" to create countless unforgettable live experiences for music lovers.
At Blue Note Beijing, Grammy Award-winner Catherine Russell—one of today's most respected jazz voices—recreated jazz and blues classics with her rich, soulful sound, offering a warm and moving musical feast.
At Blue Note Shanghai, Snarky Puppy core member and Grammy Award-winner Bill Laurence embarked on a cross-genre musical journey, blending jazz, classical, and electronic music to give the audience an incredible auditory feast.
Nine years of original aspiration: it began with jazz, but was never limited by it.
