Gallery geeks will be pleased to hear that no longer do they need to trek to 798 Art Zone for a good dose of contemporary art. One of the trendy district’s most prominent galleries M Woods recently opened a second location in the new Longfusi compound. (If you haven’t heard of the hip neighborhood yet, you really should get out more.)

The new gallery shares the first floor with Kyoto-born coffee chain % Arabica, where you can relax before or after your visit. M Woods takes care to utilize the space as much as it can, with paved pathways leading you throughout the multi-level exhibition space.

Currently on display is a collection of colorful works by esteemed British painter David Hockney, which will run through the end of the year into January. Make your way through every section – including the second exhibition space on the 9th floor of a neighboring building, where you’ll walk through a faux Forbidden City set on the rooftop.

The main gallery also boasts a pretty spectacular rooftop itself with an equally spectacular view of the surrounding cozy hutongs and sleek skyscrapers in the distance. Of course, there’s a funky signature M Woods photobooth and, surprisingly, a bar where you can get your drink on en plein air.
